About Helen Glatt
I'm Helen Glatt BA (Hons) Dip. Couns. MBACP - a UK based professional integrative counsellor with additional training in online counselling. Whilst working for a charity for homeless and vulnerable adults in North London, I trained as a professional counsellor, and have counselled at the Centre for Better Health in Hackney and in an inner London Secondary School. I launched Offload Online Counselling in 2008 and have worked in cyberspace ever since. As a humanistic counsellor, I value individual choice, autonomy and the power of acceptance, openness and respect. I aim to create a supportive, non-judgemental space for my clients to spend some time sorting through their issues in writing with me. I work from the premise that our early relationships can influence some of our core beliefs about ourselves and others, which, in turn can have a huge impact on the way we think, feel and act.
Online counselling avoids many of the difficulties people may have with seeing a counsellor face to face - it can be quite daunting to talk about personal problems with a complete stranger, or maybe it just isn't feasible to attend regular appointments. If writing is something you're comfortable with, it can have great therapeutic value and as you may have seen reported in the media, research has demonstrated that for many people, a beneficial therapeutic relationship can quickly and successfully develop using the internet.
