About Helen Glatt

Helen GlattI'm Helen Glatt - BA(Hons) Dip. Couns. MBACP - a UK based professional  integrative counsellor with additional training in online counselling - a relatively new and creative way of delivering therapy over the internet.

I launched Offload Online Counselling in 2008 and have worked in cyberspace ever since.  Online counselling avoids many of the difficulties people may have with seeing a counsellor face to face - it can be quite daunting to talk about personal problems with a complete stranger in the room, or maybe it just isn't feasible to attend regular appointments.  If writing isn't something you loathe, it can have great  therapeutic value - and although online counselling sounds like a contradiction in terms, as you may have seen reported in the media, research has now demonstrated that for many people, a beneficial therapeutic relationship can quickly and successfully develop over the internet.

As a humanistic counsellor,  I value individual choice, autonomy and the power of acceptance, openness and respect. I aim to create a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space for my clients to spend some time sorting through their issues in writing with me. I work with the premise that our early relationships can shape and mis-shape some of our core beliefs about ourselves and others, which, in turn can have a huge impact on the way we think, feel and behave. I've included feedback on my site from some of my past and ongoing clients, but the best way to find out if  we could work together is to try a free online counselling email with me. You can look me up in the UK Therapists directories of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy  the OnlineTherapy Institute and the Association for Counselling & Therapy online where I am a clinical and Executive Committee member.

I am accountable to UK law. If you do not live in the UK (particularly if you are resident in some parts of the US or Canada) please be aware of how the laws of your country or state may apply to our online counseling work. I work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework for good practice. Should you wish to make a complaint, please read the information provided here.
